Norton may recognize the trojan but be unable to remove it. I agree that googling for an answer would be a good step. You also should download and install additional anti-malware programs. Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy, both of which have free versions, are good choices.

I used the free on line Panda... if found (and removed) stuff Norton missed: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
Run your AV scan (s) first, then run Adware everytime you close IE.

I would use Kaspersky anti-virus to get rid of it. I had one last week that AVG detected but could not remove it, Kaspersky took care of it. IMO this is the best anti-virus software out there. I'm cheap and I would still pay for it. http://www.kaspersky.com/ |

best bet to remove it is use the software every one here has listed and then boot into safe mode ( tap f8 while windows is loading). safe mode would give you a higher chance of removeing it permenently.

I'm surprised that Norton identifies a Trojan (viruses and trojans are different) but does not tell you the name of the trojan. What is the name of the file(s) that are infected? Finally it may be that if Norton is using a heuristic logic it may be identifying something that is perfectly fine but thinks it's actions resemble that of a trojan. If you have a registered version of Norton you may want to contact them for support.
