cd drive problem
Hi i have cd/rw drive and a dvd drive. When i first purchased my computer i would always put cd's in the cd/rw drive, eg. games or music cd's. Though one day it just wouldn't detect the cd, i didn't think much of it and just used the dvd drive instead. But now i would like to use the abilities of the cd/rw drive like creating my own music cd's. Is there anyway of fixing this problem or is the laser just bust in the drive? maybe the computer disabled the drive or something like that i don't know, but any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Check to see if it was detected in BIOS.
Check to see if Windows detected it in the device manager.
If in Device manager, try to remove and then allow it to re-install.
If #1 #2 are good and #3 not, I would suspect that it has died.
First make sure all cables and power connectors are tight and in place properly.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,
Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul; The other for your freedom

i think its spinning the cd is facing a different angle from when i put it in and does make a little noise for about 2 seconds dosen't sound as healthy as when i put it in my dvd drive though.

yup, any drive will fit... go for a more known brand like Plextor or Sony if u dont want to have trouble. U might as well get a DVD burner now, they're pretty cheap.
