I am building a new rig for my aunt. Cheap as possible.
So just needs it for typing once in a while. No major programing.
Her daughter plays sims2. Whats the requirements for sims2?
I was wondering if this will work fine
Sempron 2300+ with a mobo (havent picked out yet)
Graphic card for sim2
512mb of RAM
40G 72k 8m cache
and a crt monitor
This will work fine with her right?

well...she currently has a hp persario.
That system has sempron 3000+, 512mb ram, 64mb onboard video, and blah blah and she will return it.
I was thinking of sempron 2400+ but how slow is it compared to 3000+ will she see any difference? shes not a gamer or anything. But as i said, her daughter plays sims2.

You'll only need to use registered ram if the board requires it, but most boards, except server motherboards, do not use registered ram. You'll most likely need to get a stick of unbuffered (or unregistered) and non-ECC ram in the size of your choice.

Instead of tripple posting just edit your post

Unbuffered ram should be just fine
