| What's up with AVG Anti-Virus
Is AVG going belly-up or what. For the last couple of days every time I turn the computer on AVG indicates that I need to update... OK then do it! It tries than just sits there looking at me. "Well do somthing!" After it sits on my screen for 5 minutes or so, it says the connection was lost. LIAR!
So I start my other 'puter same thing, but slower. I'm getting the feeling that there is no one at the other end of my AVG "update" connection.
Any one else have trouble with AVG updates?
Is it time to spend the $$$ for a real anti-virus program, one that you can update? |

are you using version 7? try an uninstall, reboot and reinstall. possibly they are having server problems on the free server. mine updted okay the other day as i was using the pc, but i tried a manual update and it is just sitting there on my system too. oops, it just started downloading. 3/4 minutes of sitting there, then a download. maybe you are trying at a very busy time? |

I had those same problems, duffyone. You may want to try manually updating through Grisoft. I would, but I'm too lazy. |

I had the same problem. The first time it happened I had to use the Task Manager to kill it. Tried about 3 more times without success then I rebooted and tried again. Took about 5 min (and I'm on a DSL connection) but it finally got it done. I didn't do anything special, I just kept trying and it finally went through

When I try updates by not scheduling, it seems to take a lot of time. I just schedule it for update when I'm asleep.

I've had that problem. I finally got an update today which I tried for three days. It wants an update every two or three days. I haven't seen it ask for updates that often before.
