Anyone know a free good word processor? (I don't have word on this laptop)
I need to double space and spell check.
Thank You,

You are a great candidate for OpenOffice.org, the premier open source office productivity suite. Depending upon your tasks, you may even like it better than Microsoft Office. Binaries for Windows, Linux, and other platforms are available. It even supports most basic Office file formats. http://www.openoffice.org/
You may also want to check out AbiWord. It is an open source word processor with no additional office software. I prefer OpenOffice.org, but to each their own: http://www.abisource.com/

I've used Open Office, very impressive.
No reason for anyone to buy M$ Office.

Rob pretty much gave you the two best options (IMO) on free word processors.
I switched from OpenOffice to AbiWord beacuse OpenOffice was continually freezing on one of my computers, and I haven't looked back! |

yup, openoffice is the best alternative and it's free.... but you'll have to learn the programs all over again because it's not totally the same as MSOffice. |
