Hi guys, this is what i'm looking to do:
hook up my NTSC Gamecube up to my computer monitor.
Hook up my PC to that SAME monitor, and be able to switch back and forth.
Be able to play progressive scan Gamecube games (i really want this, but understand if its not worth it or if its impossible )
What would i need to do this?
I understand the box needs component in correct?
I found this:
Multi Purpose VGA Box (with Component-In) (Third Party)
but here: http://www.lik-sang.com/comparison.php?item_grp_id=4
says that it is interlaced only, and doesn't support progressive even if it has Component in.
The question is, other than the GameCube component cable, what do i need to do what i described above? |

The point of this problem is your taking away from the actual guys post and not even beginning to answer his post. This is just unacceptable behaivor and forum etiquette. It has nothing to do and just keeps bumping up his post which moves someone elses post out that could be helped. Do you not see what is wrong here? There is an the IMO community for this type of nonsense.
As for the topic as far as it has gotten away from:
The problem is you have to convert your ntsc signal to rgb standard of which computer display monitors use.
There are a few devices that can do this to somewhat acceptable way like this: http://www.highway.net.au/parts/converters/1325.html
You can search google for a vga convertor but I dont think you will find a progressive scan one with good quality or even a progressive scan type.
However there are PVR's and HDTV video capture cards that have component video in. http://www.ati.com/products/hdtvadapter/index.html http://www.ati.com/products/tvwonderelite/index.html
This might be a feasable solution if you are that willing do this and you can use that personal/digital video recorder for other uses. It just seems like the best solution to me if that is the end result you want? It will produce the results you want, dont think it will be accomplished by other means. However some others might have some insight to this. Hope this helps.

De-interlaceing is generally $. BUT a vga box for the gamecube will already DO that with vga out. I have a vga box on the DC and trust me-its "true" vga. Meaning Not interlaced. So, thats taken care of. Now what I would do is hook the vga out from the game cube adaptor, to a KVM switch. Then you could switch. just wont have keyboard and mouse hooked up! No biggy. Is that what you needed to know? If not let me know-if I misunderstood you. |
