| Computer Shutting down
Hi.
A few days ago my Power Supply blew up, it was a premier-ent 350 watts ATX.
So i bought a new one 400 watts. it installed ok but it did reset my clock etc.
i have now got the computer running but every now and then it will shut down on its own, completely cuts off, and i cant get it started again for a while. i dont think it could be the power supply because it is a higher rated one then before. I have cleaned the CPU fan as well because i thought it might be that overheating but the problem is still there. please can you help. |

Yeah, it does sound like it's a heat issue; so try to get us that information. Also, what brand is the new power supply? 400 watt means very little because a 350 watt Antec PSU will usually outperform a 600 watt generic PSU.
And when (or if) you get Everest, let us know the voltage levels. The temps and voltage levels can both be found under Computer > Sensor. |

Yeah I agree, you ould setup some monitoring software to monitor cpu temp and Mobo temps, refrain from keeping you computer in enclosed spaces and next to heat sources (such as radiators). Also may be an idea to rest ur CMOS settings using the jumper this will reset all your cmos settings to default. |

What exactly to you mean by "can't get it started again"? Won't physically power up or powers up and does nothing (like won't post, beep, etc). Also can you provide a few more details of your system?

Sounds like it won't turn on until it cools down.
Had a car that did that.

i will get all the detail of my computer and let you know what the spec is when i get home from work.
thankyou for all your help. |

If you could also get us the number of amps per rail (+12v, 5v, 3v) that would be very helpful. I'll look into that brand of psu's, never heard of them, sounds like one of those crappy generic ones. Sorry.
[EDIT]: Are you sure its "G-Tec" and not "Q-Tec"? I couldn't find anything on a G-Tec power supply.
Is your power supply one of these?
[EDIT2]: Found some reviews on the 550w Q-Tec, seems decent. Yours might be ok, but that is if yours is in fact a Q-Tec. Also depends on the amps per rail and what kind of a system your running.
