Where does outlook store its address book?

I'm trying to get the Address Book from Outlook off a computer that needs Windows to be reinstalled. Since Windows isn't working, I can't just run Outlook and export the information..

Does anyone have any idea where Outlook stores such information, or can anyone point me in the right direction?

    here is an article http://helpdesk.nus.edu.sg/support/u...ackup/PAB.html

if it is outlook and it is the "personal address book" then it is a *.pab file so you could boot with a floppy and search for *.pab files

    -

    from article

For Window98 users, copy and save the address book file from the diskette to this default directory C:\WINDOWS\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

For Window2000/XP users, copy and save the address book file from the diskette to this default directory C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

so like if the comp user is bob then it is

For Window2000/XP users, copy and save the address book file from the diskette to this default directory C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately, it doesn't matter anymore. After starting this thread, I smoked the hard drive (real smoke came out ).

    ahh yes...

each component has a small amount of smoke inside of it to make it run properly...if you "let the smoke out" it wont work anymore....and it is nearly impossible to get that smoke back in!
