Magnetic Data Technology Hard Drives???

Anyone ever hear of this company or have any experience with their hard drives? Just curious because i was thinking of getting one. I usually go with Maxtor, but they had a good price for these.

Never heard of them.

After googling -
Mastertech says:

HDDs by Magnetic Data Technology
Quote:
MDT reassembles hard drives using components outsourced from major brand hard drive manufactures ie. WD, Maxtor and Seagate. By stamping on the OEM brand MDT they are able to pass on a substantial savings of 35-40% to equivalent brand name manufacturers. We are committed to the excellent quality of MDT's hard drives and offer a 1 year limited replacement warranty

Sounds like Refurbs to me.

Under The Open Directory Project they are listed as:
Quote:
Magnetic Data Technology - Provider of repair services including disk drive repair, logistics and inventory management

Notice the disk drive repair service.

The prices and drive sizes match Refurb pricing. I strongly recommend avoiding refurbished HDs.

I think you should stay away, unless the price point is compelling. but from what I have seen its only a few dollars less than the next lowest price for a new drive.

Thanks , no1. (why do i suddenly feel like a starship captain?)

Thought it was odd to see a new face on the market. Now i know why! They had a good price on 200 GB drives, but you're right - the 120 GBs were roughly the same.
