Cable speeds to go up 1200% ?

Just saw an interview on FOX where some guy from the cable industry was saying that cable companies have the infrastructure and the ability now to boost cable speeds by 1200% as of now.

He said that he downloaded a full length hi-depth movie in less than 5 minutes in trials and that they are working on a 1600% increase wherein the same movie would download in less than a minute.

Anyone have any links on this?

If true, start bugging your cable company.

I'm speechless, all I can say is that I'd love it (sorry, couldn't come up with any other words due to extreme amazement)

They'd better increase something other than rates to stay ahead of DSL.

I have been hearing that cable has alot more upgradebility and that they can compete with verizon fios if they want.

But you can't run your own server on most cable services. So I will stick with my dsl and hope that they keep the upgrading that they have been doing up.

The guy said something about with all the channels available that they would combine X number of them and run them linear.

    I think.

This is my veiw, I read an article a month ago.
We have digital cable and basic cable.
Basic cable take up 70% of the cable wire leave 30%
digital cable is ( i forgot but extremly low like 10-20%) > FULL 999 chanels blah blah.
Any ways I belive Internet is like 10-15%. nice huh
Now If they remove the basic, they can get faster speeds but they cant. Why?
because some people (accually most people) have basic cable and that would have so many law suites up there butt. lol, I know I have basic cable, so
Cable Wire Has a lot of capabilities.
