| Building a Budget Gaming System
Ok ive been searching for a decent gaming system for a good price. Im currently playing Anarchy Online with an old 400mhz PII 128mb of ram and GeForce2 Mx.
I first wanted to get Amd 64 procy and a mobo with nforce 3. I can have the money in month or 2 but I really want to get a new system bad.... I cant stand to see lag anymore. I was wondering if Sempron's were good for gaming, comparied to a Athlon Xp or Or P4. I know they have less cache and all but I just want somethign that will run better than what ive got.
I also plan on getting 512 or geil value ram. keeping my same video card as of right now. Then in a few months Im getting a new graphics card probobly a bfg asylum GeForce fx 5200 256mb and another 512 of the ram..... Im not looking to have some bomb ass state of the art looking graphics I just want a computer that can get close to medium settings w/o lag. Thanks
Peace |

a config i made for a few people on a gaming budget of around $300 is
sempron 2400+ and mobo combo for $65 at outpost
512 pc 3200 $40
80gb sata $65
cheap case $30
radeon 9550 $65
optical drive $25
you could always reuse your hd and optical drives for a while untill you get more money and bump up to a sempron 3100+ combo for about $165 with free hl2 and farcry at monarch pc

If I were to go with a Sempron, I wouldn't go with any other than the 3100+. |

Sweet deal. I think im going to get that. I used to play FFXI online with my cuzins dell laptop with a geforce 2 and 256mb or ram and it was a 900mhz PIII and it ran pretty well actually. I compared the 2 and think I will be satisfied with the sempron. |
