When you reinstall - are you just installing over the original installation? Or, did you completely delete the installation folder and start fresh? Do you have any unfinished downloads that are waiting to be finished? Maybe that's causing the slowdown - a corrupt file or virus?

In the same folder that your P2P folder is stored, there is another called INCOMPLETE... delete the contents of that. (also, you will loose any download you had going at the time)

I've had the same problem. How much ram do you have? limewire eats so much ram it's insane can't really multi task with it unless lots of ram of course but yeah mine use to be really really really slow and it pissed me off cause welll limewire is good. Anyway yeah got another stick of 512 and limewire pro fixed the problem... hope that helps and if you have a gig of ram then I have no idea

I have this same problem with LimeWire, it is extremely slow and lags my system.
My 700MB of free memory turns into about 40MB free when I open LimeWire, and the CPU usage is close to 100%.
This happened even before I reformatted Windows when I upgraded to my A64.
I've tried everything and it won't stop.AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2GHz
Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
Corsair 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM
Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
XFX GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP

Limewire started going really slow on mine too. I personaly felt it was something to do with the java that it uses & makes it quite demanding.
I just use a couple of other more responsive p2ps now. Maybe you should look elsewhere for a less lagging app.

I think that it's because it's just limewire regular. Pro runs alot better and I understand that you guys probably don't want to spend the 40 bucks or w/e it was I paid but it runs lots better.
