psu configuration

Does anyone have an explanation or a good site explaining where all the wires from the psu hook onto the moboand what they are? And also where the little twisted wires form the case comntrolling start, restart, etc hook onto the mobo? Thanks

Well there's either one or two of the cables that are needed to power the motherboard. Either only the 20 or 24 pin ATX connector or both the ATX connector and the 4-pin 12v connector.

Best place to check would be your motherboard manual. It's also labeled near the headers.


Also check the manual for which wires are needed to connect to power your motherboard and where they are placed.

molex connectors or little 3 pin connectors on the mobo
there i usually 1 near the cpu and a few others
here is a pic of your mobo, and i circled the 3 pin connectors...and yes i'm bored otherwise i wouldn't have done this

Yes, some fans use the 3-pin found on the motherboard and some use the molex connector, like this:

any extra wires from fan are probably for temp or fan speed control
ok but the ps has molex connectors-what rrcn posted(the pic) and the main 20 or 24 pin mobo connector there's also 4 pin connectors(not molex connectors...molex are bigger) and they connect to stuff like floppy drive

wut about the sata connectors? I dont see how the hook into the sata part of the mobo
