TiVo & Linksys Vonage Router RT31P2

I want to setup TiVo on a wired network and also want to set up Vonage VOIP. It looks like the Linksys Vonage router RT31P2 is what I need, along with a Linksys 100TX or Linksys USB200M network adapter for TiVo (both TiVo recommended). I have a TiVo manufactured Series 2 box, and Windows XP Home Edition on my PC.

Upon further research I discovered that...

Vonage provides a Linksys RT31P2 free of charge when you sign up for their service and claims that "Many Vonage customers have successfully setup DirecTV and TiVo series2 connections through the Vonage Phone Adapter (Linksys RT31P2 router)." I've decided to go ahead and try it. I believe that the problem some people are having is that they are hooking the TiVo up via a phonejack on the RT31P2 instead of using the TiVo USB port --> network adapter --> ethernet cable --> port on the RT31P2. TiVo may have problems trying to "dial up" using VoIP. But my question is why would you want to continue to "dial up" if you can easily set up TiVo on the network with the same router

Any thoughts...??

Tivo series 1 and directv tivos can't use a usb nic. That was the biggest issue I saw when I worked at Vonage.

Thumbs up
TiVo & Vonage Success!

I have successfully setup a network using the RT31P2 router/phone adapter, and the USB200M network adapter. Tivo connects fine to the network, and the Vonage phone service works perfectly fine. Also, it was VERY easy to do. All plug and play... no driver installation needed for the network adapter or router and no configuration needed for anything. The router configured properly automatically, and TiVo automatically configured itself for the network. Hope this helps those who are thinking about doing the same thing.

Now to setup TivoWeb...
