I'm not sure about where to get the full download of I.E 5.5 ... but you can pick up the full installation of I.E. 6 from here.

Toejam -
Welcome to TechIMO! Thanks for the link. I was watching this thread because I ran into a problem yesterday and needed a full install of IE myself.
I've got a friend that also uses Toejam and if you have a sense of humor like his, we're in for a treat here
.
BTW, nice rig although I'm an AMD fan

ms saves your ie download in the "Windows Update Setup Files" folder... so you pretty much always have a full install whether or not you know it!

When you start the download you want to select advanced and select full, then find the option to download and do not install. It's in there under advanced.
Of course you have to download and run the installer to get to that option, It works, you can put the files in any directory you want.
Rant ON
Microsoft does not want you to do this. It's too simple to download one file and execute it. Most people can not find a file they just downloaded, so MS wants to do it for you.
Also I think MS gets money somehow everytime you download software cause they make you download updates for every machine you work on. I want to download once, and update all my machines from one file.

Use the advanced option from a 9x machine. There is an option there to download everything and download for the different OSs too for later installation.
This option is not available in Win 2000.
Yet another reason to keep a 98 box around.

Or, you can always pick up a FREE MSN, Compuserve, Earthlink, etc. CD. You'll find a full copy of IE on them. (I wouldn't try the AOL CD, no telling what they've done to IE there!)
