    Please help - used the wrong charger on my laptop :-(

     
    I'm a newbie to PC's, please advise:

    Can anyone help please? I accidentally used the wrong power charger for my Compaq M700 laptop and now it will not switch on, even with the correct charger, and no lights saying charging. Is there any way I can fix this myself? what have I blown?

    Well, you have obviously fried something inside and there is no way I see that you can fix this yourself.

    I suppose you could try pulling the battery and A/C power, let it sit a bit, hold the power button down to try to discharge power still in the sytem... also try it on A/C power with the battery removed.

    But ya, it seems you have done irreperable damage to the power system if it wont power on at all.

    Usually you have to pay extra for accidental damage coverage. Do you still have the warranty certificate?

    M700 is most likely out of warranty. Discontinued for at least 2-3 years.
