CD-R - 'for consumer use only' ?
Customer came in this A.M. looking for CD-R's.
Said they had to specifically say 'for consumer use only' in order to work.
Never heard of it.

Anyone?

Maybe his burner came with a couple blanks that had that printed on the package. You know, those people that pack the boxes might think those are free and take them home afterall...

Whir that sounds probable to me. They say something like not for retail sale etc. Some bulk packs too. (not to be sold individually) If he thinks he needs special disks, sounds like he really needs a PC education!

Maybe this guy is trying to use a standalone audio CD recorder??? Those usually require the special "for music" CD-R's.

Tell him you can sell him the 'Regular' ones, but you need to do an extra step for $1.00 per/CD that involves pre/degaussing....

Pioneer recorder
Comes up with a message 'prodisc only"
The manual says the following which i guess answers the question

Consumer-use discs
This recorder is only compatible with special consumer-use CD-R
and CD-RW discs. These are clearly marked For Music Use
Only, For Consumer, or For Consumer Use. Other types
of CD-R or CD-RW discs, such as those available for computerbased
CD recorders, will not work with this recorder.

Ok, if the extra time spent (and probably extra money if the disks are rare) on finding some special CD-R disks is worth less than $25 for a new DVD burner...
