cpu fan error

I'm having a problem with a hp computer. Whenever it boots I get an error message: cpu fan check failed your computer will shut down in 5 seconds and shuts down. I replaced the fan, disabled the setting in the Bios and it still doesn't work. I also noticed that if I disable the cpu fan check in the bios, it boots and give me an error saying system fan check failed. Can someone explain whats going on. thanks

where did you get the replacement fan from? I do not think I would disable the cpu fan check on startup neither because I do not think it takes a very long time to burn up the cpu. It is possible that is releated to the mb. I built a pc a month ago and noticed that the cpu fan was not spinning as fast as it should. I went in the bios and found out that is was spinning at about 25% of what is should have been. I contacted AMD and they sent me a new fan/heatsink and the new one worked fine.

I bought the replacement fan from comp usa. It is a thermal control case fan. HP didn't sell the replacement fan. I only disabled the cpu fan check because it is a recommendation by hp to see if the fan is actually the problem, but now i'm not sure
