Newegg, which boasts more than 175,000 reviews "from buyers like you" on its homepage, says Mr. Brig's first review was rejected because of confusion with the title of his review, which appeared to comment on his DVD burner not the blank DVDs he purchased. His second submission was declined because it mentioned information about a rebate, which is against Newegg's review policy of not including time-sensitive information.
The company says it has a team of eight people who monitor reviews and reject submissions if they are too vague, mention competitors or criticize a brand without specific product insight, among other reasons. From July 1 to Aug. 2, the site received 18,188 reviews and rejected 15% of them, according to a Newegg spokesman.
Newegg, City of Industry, Calif., has been the target of numerous complaints on online forums where shoppers gripe about the omission of their reviews and the lack of negative commentary on the consumer electronics retailer's site. Stuart Wallock, director of marketing for Newegg, says products with an overwhelming number of negative reviews are removed from its Web site, along with all of the complaints.
According to Forrester Research, just 26% of online retailers currently use a product review feature. While more sites recognize the potential for product reviews to build customer trust and loyalty, many are fearful that negative reviews might annoy manufacturers or hurt sales, says Carrie Johnson, an e-commerce analyst with Forrester. Some sites are also unsure how to handle issues of censorship.
"That is one of the reasons why using reviews are so tricky," Ms. Johnson says. "Customers will feel duped when their reviews don't get posted, and feel that there is censorship going on."

exactly.
It's to be expected from a large corporation to not accept garbage like that. Besides, sometimes people try to fight other opinions with reviews...

I don’t see a problem with what Newegg had done. I have seen many reviews on sites, that are too vague, but to the average Joe may mislead them. I find that Newegg has a decent review submission policy, and they are only protecting themselves in the long run. If he cannot write a good enough review, that Newegg would reject it then it’s not their fault.
Also, I do not know enough of the reviews he sent it, so I cannot comment further than that.

yeah, reviews like that are just stupid. but ive had an experience where my review which i spent some thoughtful time on, got rejected. I said "the motherboard dosent overclock well and i wouldnt reccomend it if thats what your intentions are, otherwise its a solid motherboard."
REJECTION!!!!!!!!
i couldnt believe it??!?? i dont see how thats crossing any lines....what kind of "reviews" are these if they can ONLY talk about the positives of the product and not anything negative?
REVIEW = To examine with an eye to criticism or correction.
if there is no criticism allowed, how can one truely use the reviews as a creditable source of information about the product? i definitely look elsewhere for reviews and usually dont consider whats said in the newegg reviews anymore because its either "burn the newegg warehouse down!! spill their blood!!" or its "yeah i overclocked this celeron to about 12.54 Ghz. easy, stock cooling, and im not totally emberrassed and regretting buying this piece of junk and in denial...."

At least it's not like Pricewatch. They delete negative posts for vendors and on their message forum delete negative issues about themselves. Really crooked. I have screenshots and posted them here a while back.

I've posted a bunch of times and the only ones that get posted seemed to be ones like:
"Me stupid, Newegg and FedEx are Gods, We shall all all buy from them"

ehh...one shouldn't decide on a part based on the reviews. In fact this is straight from newegg's site: Quote:

I didn't add the bold either...it's there on the site (at least the old version).
