| Toshiba Laptop White Screen Woes
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop 2535CDs that my father bought second hand for 200 dollars. It is a Windows 98, but still works pretty good.
Just last night I had turned on my laptop to view a white screen, it seems as though the backlight is working too much. I can only see what I am doing if I tilt the screen towards me. Yesterday morning the computer worked fine. However, just before I turned on the laptop last night I had cleaned the screen and keys with some windex (keys because there was ink on them). Anyway I was thinking that maybe I had pressed down too hard on the screen, but I was so sure that I wasn't. I was hoping it would "repair itself" by this morning, but it has not. Or, I was just thinking, that some of the windex may have gotten beneath keys...but I wiped it up so fast...Hmmmm....
Well anyway, can anybody help? I would most appreciate it if there was a way to repair this without taking apart the laptop, but if there isn't then so be it.
Thanks! ^_^
P.S. I must say that I am no genius at computers...so if you guys could just break it down a little with your directions, I would be enitrely grateful! Oh and my dad is no genius either ^^ I would have said not to get a second hand one because you never know what is on it...but I wasn't there. Oh well. |

Welcome......
long shot but one of the function keys with alt or control is usually used to increase / decrease the brightness on laptop screens.
As I say long shot as the adjustment is not usually that much.
Can't say exactly which keys for your manchine but you can google for a manual.
worth a try .......
Steve

Did you spray the windex on the screen or, as you should have, on the cloth first and then wiped the screen. It could have dripped into the edge connectors. Let it dry out in a warm place but not in high heat.
BTW how does the screen look at first boot before it gets into windows. |

The screen is still white and I can hardly see anything through it. If I tilt it forward, the angle makes it the screen bit more visible. |

Hi,
really no point in doing any format etc at present , most unlikely a software problem with windows.
if you tilt the screen enough can you see enough to do a clean close of windows then restart , if so give it a go and let us know if the screen flasher light / dark and if you can see the bios screen at start
just may give a clue

another option if you have an available socket is to plug in an external monitor , this would also eliminater hardware etc ....... make it a known good monitor though

btw I did spray the windex on it.....

a clean close? I am afraid you will have to be a little more clear with that. But as for another monitor I can certainly find one...now to hook it up. ^^
Thanks guys! |
