| Accidentally deleted something vital
When it comes to computers, my screen name says it all. I was deleted files from a computer I brought home from work. I thought I was just deleting Word and PowerPoint documents to clean up some space, but evidently I deleted something vital. When I turn the computer on, it says the following.
Main Processor: AMD-K6(tm)1233
Procesor Clock: 233MHz
VGA Memory: 1MB
Checking NVRAM..
32768KB OK TrendChipAwayVirus(R) On Guard
Wait...
Pri Master: 14.10R11 WDC AC24300L
Ultra DMA Mode - 2 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status OK.
The cursor is blinking, but I am unable to type anything. If I turn the computer off and back on, it comes back to the same screen. Any suggestions will be helpful. I have two young boys wanting to play computer games but their mom messed things up. |

Do you have any disks in any of the drives? My PC doesn't like to boot in there is a disk in the drive or a card in the USB card reader. |

Welcome To TechIMO!
The only thing that I can think of that you could do, is to repair xp. If that doesn't work, I would imagine you will have to reformat the hdd. |

Repair installation: Running a repair install of Windows XP can be a handy way of fixing the installation of XP without having to start totally over and deleting important data from your PC. To do this type of install, simply follow these instructions.
1. Boot from your XP installation CD.
2. At the welcome screen, choose enter.
3. Once at the license agreement, press F8.
4. At the next screen, choose to repair the selected Windows XP installation by pressing R.
5. The files will begin to install and then your PC will reboot. During the reboot you will be presented with option of booting from the CD again by pressing any key. Don't press anything. Allow it to finish the install without booting from the CD again.
| I found this on some site, it is much better than having me try to tell you how(i'd probably miss a few importiant details)! |

Black screen ..... RIGHT ?
You should be able to type, even in DOS mode, and the text should appear where the cursor is blinking.
Check your connections.
Make sure your mouse and keyboard are plugged in correctly.
Got a friend with a Win98 CD and a startup disk? |

I think OS stands for Operating System. It was Windows ME. |
