    Is this website legal?

Ok, this seems EXACTLY what I need...

    http://store.yahoo.com/ftcshop/micwinxpprof.html

I lost my OEM Windows XP Pro OEM CD. I called Microsoft and they said they wouldn't give me a new CD since it is an OEM copy. I have the COA on the side of my PC.

Is this legal? I think it is, but then again, I'm not sure...

I wanted to ask before I went and ordered....

Well if all you need is a copy of the CD you should just find someone that has one and copy it. If you have a valid CD-Key that you paid for with the computer I don't think there is a problem with that. It would be like if you had burned a backup copy of your original CD. If I understand you correctly, you have a sticker on the side of the computer with a CD-Key on it. You just need a copy of XP that will accept that Key. This is an interesting situation that I am sure many others have found themselves in. I hope some others will reply to your post with comments. I wouldn't purchase the CD from that link you gave.

The answer to your question is, yes it is legal as long as M$ is compensated.

The problem isn't loading the OS, because I have it loaded from a friend's OEM disk, but I might sell this PC and I need a Genuine Windows XP CD. If I hand the person a burned XP CD, they will most likely report me or something...

I always include any installation CDs when selling a build... I have all the CDs minus the XP....

yep, it's perfectly legal. You still need a valid activation key (that's what makes XP so expensive) to even use the OS.
