I need you TechIMO!
Well I contacted AOpen today because i've bought one of there sound cards from newegg that i've sent back once due to it giving me a blue screen when i played music and loaded a few webpages, well I got the card back today and slapped it in and well my pc froze up.. thank god no blue screen I blieve this card works BUT not for me... I switched the card around thinking it was my PCI slot and it still did it I put my ethernet card in the slot that the soudcard was freezing up on no problems however my computer froze again because the soundcard was sttill in another PCI slot so to check for sure it wasnt that slot I removed the sound card and enabled my onboard sound again booting my pc up with the ethernet card still in the slot that the card was freezing up on NO PROBLEMS no freezing anymore ! So all my PCI slots work anyways... so I contacted AOpen and he said maybe the jack in the front of my case the "Front Panel" was interfiering with the sound card because its hooked to the motherboard when the onboard is disabled he said to like enabled the front pannel the AC' 97 Audio and put the soundcard in and see if it works i'm asking you guys this because i'm totally unsure what he wants me to do he is asking me to enable onboard with mysound card in? wouldn't that make it all whacky? everytime I boot up it will jus task me to install the AC' 97 Drivers and how would i know what sounds working the Onboard or the Card?
I hope i explained things clearly i'm not good at explaining crap I JUST WANT MY CARD TO WORK!!! Any ideas?

I think he means to go into Bios and disable on board sound, and use the plugs on the sound card. (disconnect the front ones from the mb)"The world burns while Obama Tweets."

Most likely problem is drivers. I would try first removing the sound card, leave the onboard disabled, then boot to safe mode. While in safe mode uninstall the drivers. Check to see if there is an uninstall program for the driver, likely in the start menu. If not there check the control panel, then after removing any thing in those places go to Device Manger and make sure there are no references to your sound card in there. There may be several that show up while in safe mode. Delete them all, then reboot. I would reboot at least twice, and check for left over files in folders relating to the driver, delete those as well.
There are driver cleaner programs http://www.drivercleaner.net/ is one that would be also good to help remove old files.
After cleaning up then install the card (following the instructions from the manufactor) some want you to intall the driver first, others when Windows detects the device.
Perhaps this will fix it. It's also possible that it's time for a reformat and clean install of Windows.

ya hmmmm, nice life story, but just had to correct you on stuff.
The software costs 80-90 for Windows XP Home, not the redicioulous amount of you made up.
And, I usually dont "defend" MS, but in this case I will.

Yah Spanky, I don't know if that was needed. . . M$ has a right to want to get paid for their software. XP Home is ~$92 ~$140 for XP Pro (OEM) off of www.newegg.com. . .Dr. Cox -Newbie, Stay. Oohhh what a good boy you are, Newbie..... DEAR GOD JUDY HOW MUCH PRODUCT DO YOU USE?

You get it fixed yet?
You know you could use something else for an OS...like Linspire, or any other version of Linux that is free...and if the cupon is still good, you can still get Linspire 5 for free..."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

Is that 600 KiloBYTEs per second, or 600 KiloBITs a sec? If it is 600 KB/sec, that is a good speed for 3Mb."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln
