Help with new pc booting :(

i'm having the same problem w/ my new pc. I'm assuming it's the harddrive/ video card that is causing the problem maybe?

"THe black screen and non responding keyboard" is right after the windows xp screen.

At boot up, all mem and drives are identified. However, i cant get my harddrive register as primary master.

Here's wat it reads.

Primary slave : lite-on dvdrw drive
3rd Master : Hitachi SATA drive (placed in sata 1 plug according to manual)
4th Master: Western digital SATA drive (placed in sata 2 plug according to manual)

Ok, i'm tryin to install windows xp pro 64bit. everything runs fine and i'm done w/ setup. right after i get to the xp loading screen, it would turn into black screen (blank). Then the green light on my monitor flickers.

That occurs. I've tried to install on both harddrives. same result.

I'm new to SATA and all these new technology now . so do i have to place certain settings in order for sata to work? and what version of windows will i be able to make all the hardware work ?

Here's my comp spec.

2.8gbz dual 820 .
ASUS P5DL2 intel 945p, board (dont have onboard video )
2gb (1x2) corsair pc4200 mem
2x 250gb harddrives. (both drives are new)
liteon dvd writer.
450watt power supply.
sapphire ati x600 xpress x16 video card.

I'm able to access in safe mode and safe mode w/ networking

plz help me out.

I do not run XP at home only at work so i do not have a lot of experience trouble shooting it but I would suggest that you go back and remove all of your peripherals and extra cards and drives and try booting with just your primary HD....

I know with older versions but is there a option to boot stepwise in XP?? if so either of these 2 may help narrow down your problem(s).....

Also check your jumper setting . Try using spare vid card,PSU and memory to narrow down the proplem.
ALSO are you loading your sata drivers upon install?

i'm gonna buy another video card today to see if that might be the problem. everything in case is pre-assembled by ecollegepc.com. i've only put in the video card and the 2nd harddrive. Maybe it is the psu or video card that might be causing the problem. .

I dont know about sata driver, i didnt recieve any driver at all for sata drive but the harddrive it self. i'm new to sata. I didnt load any drivers but just put in the disc and installed xp pro 64bit.

Your motherboard requires drivers that run the sata. Theses are not in windows they would be on a seperate cd from the motherboard manufacturer. If you didn't get a driver cd try going to the website for the company that made the motherboard and download the drivers.

You have to find the drivers on your Motherboard CD and put them on a floppy disk and hit F-6 at the begining( be quick) to install them.

I have the mobo cd, but i'm not certain which 1 is the driver and how i go about doing this to install the driver. F8 is for boot menu, delete is for setup, never tried f6.

Is that he reason why i cant go into windows in normal mode? i could use safe mode to enter. This is what i've got on the CD, donno what i should do. how do i go by the make disk process and what to put on? is there a walkthrough on that on making sata work?

ok, after many hrs of rework ;( i've found the problem. the video card is not compatible w/ the mobo as far as i know. so i put an x800 onto the board and boom, it loaded fine in 64bit xp pro. There is still 1 more problem though. the sound device wont work. i've tried to install the hi def driver from CD and got the updated 1 from the site. it still wont work.

lookin under computer management. > system devices. >>

microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio (exclamation mark)
is the only device is having problem.

anyone have an idea of where i should go about to make the sound work?

NVM all that. There's a hotfix for windows 64 bit that you have to download. Thx.
