A Celeron is going to cripple performance...
That Foxconn board is a bottleneck as well...
no point in getting a decent card if hes just gonna "dum" it down with the sytem hes putting it in...
try talking him into an AMD system...
at least a Socket A wouldnt hold him back, and keep him in his budget...

That's what I was thinking, too.
Thanks for the reply.
Is there a processor out of these you'd like to recommend?
It's that board or nada. Should I go with an FX5200 or FX5500?

Both, kind of. He already has the new motherboard.
Remember that he's not an enthusiast. He just wants to be able to play the latest games, but I'd like to give him the most bang for his buck. |

Hed be better off selling or returning the board and starting over...
-----------
(edit for new info after looking up the board...)
But hey, you asked for advice within these parameters sooooooo...
A P4 with 800 FSB is gonna be the best bet, but expensive...
Well Foxconn arent great, but this boards SPECS dont seem as bad as I thought...
If you go with a P4 instead of a Celeron, it wont be that bad...
Cheapest P4 being... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116178
Its worth the $40...
