Well I have been looking for awhile now for just what I want but I keep comming up with questions that get under my skin.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: GAMING
CPU: AMD 64 FX-57
MOBO: ASUS A8N-deluxe sli
GPU: BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC - PCI Express - 256MB GDDR3 - VIVO - Dual-DVI - NVIDIA® SLI™ Multi-GPU
POWER SUPPLY: X-Finity™ 600 Watt PSU - Titanium
Now this is the very basics but I wanted to know will 600w be enough to give max power to the system and still stay cool by not working at max?Is that videocard the best to start with if in some time i would like to use the mobos sli feature. OR should I get 2 cheaper cards that have sli and will they run better and faster.Should I really get the fx chip or is that just for show? People tell me that the fx chip runs just a bit faster then the standerd 64 chip.I know this is alot of big questions so anyone that could help me out I THANK YOU!
THANKS
ps any ideas what i could get for 100gig-150gig hard drive that will work well with what i have and be lighting quick. |

the FX57 is ALOT faster than a normal 64 chip...
YOu dont need 600W of power if you get a known brand.. never heard of X-Finity... go with a OCZ Powerstream or Enermax Noisetaker power supply...
The 7800GTX OC is one of the best cards you can get... ive seen one in the works and it rocks!! getting one myself

Yes 600W will be more that enough(less than 400W from a good PSU would more that likely server you well), but say away from Ultra branded trash. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104973 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104155 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151024
In general one 7800GTX will be faster than two lesser cards so stick with one card for now.
The FX57 is considered the hardcore overclocker's chip. If you don't plan on overclocking, there is very little incentive to actually buy the FX series as it is, in all reality only slightly faster than the 4000+(but yes that does mean it's faster). If you have your mind set on an expensive chip take a look at the 4400-4800+ dual core line. The 4800+ is two 4000+ cpus stuck on one chip and would be a beast in any application. The 4400+ is probably the best value of the bunch and the best candidate for a slight overclock effectivly making it a 4800+ if you so wish.
As far as Hard drives go, there are several options, though I'm not quite up on the best solution right now. Getting a WD Raptor 10k HD or two would be your fastest option then you can stack another drive for storage on top of that if you want. I'd probably recommend that option, but in the end it's not that much of a performance boost except for in loading times. Get Raptors only if you really don't like money |

Here's another piping up to say get a different PSU. Ultra doesn't have a very good reputation.
What RAM are you planning to use with the build? |

Everything else looks good since you're a gamer, what about the RAM though?

I would recommend 2 x 1GB of TCCD ram. Corsair xms xl, OCZ platinum, Geil are a few makers. |

Thanks for all the imput | Well the fact is that you need 2GB of RAM for optimal gaming/multitasking performance. This RAM is my personal favorite: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220045
That RAM will OC pretty well above 250MHz FSB, 250MHz FSB will give you a clock speed of 3.5GHz* on your CPU if you decide to OC with this RAM, and you can try to go higher . I would highly recommend it because it has the best timings, lowest voltage, and an excellent price (in its class).
*with the stock multiplier of 14 which you can change/adjust.
Here are the HDDs I was talking about earlier: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145088 |
