Ive been getting HORRIBLE lag for somereason, its a jerky kind of lag, like ill be running forward (this is in bf2) than all of a sudden it would kind of be like i was pushed forward but then next second id be back and crap like that. This stared just a few days after trying this : http://forums.filefront.com/showthre...hreadid=217620 wich i highly recommend (highly improves gameplay, graphics and really reduces lag, well, mabey not in my case, but you should try it, works for all games), but any sudgestions would be great!!!!!!!!!
Spec: ATI 9600 pro 256mb graphics card, 1.8 ghs amd proc 1GB ram.

Maybe get rid of whatever you did?
What's your ping? What are you computer specs? It could be the server; it could be your network; your ISP; your computer - it could be all of those things. More info would help.

Your graphics card should be able to handle the game on low/medium settings fairly well. What settings are you running? |

Then why, if your claim is true, did your game all of a sudden lag up when you took that fellow's advice? |

I've seen this type of boost method before, and if it is the same, then its simply turning off any optimisation your graphics card is doing.
Can only speak about ATI as its what I own, but I'd imagine Nvidia have similar.
When you rename the main exe you are simply fooling the Graphics Card Drivers into thinking its not the game in question, therefore the optimisations are not loaded. This may work for some games, but you may also notice they don't look as nice, hence the apparent boost in FPS. This may also account for the less laggy feel, as it sounds as though you were are getting screen lag, not net lag. Test it out, take a screen shot with it renamed and the original, chances are you'll notice differences.
Turning off AI in the driver controls will have the same effect, as this is what renaming it effectively does.
Treid it on F.E.A.R and no change, so its by no means a wonder cure for boosted gameplay. Personally I prefer to tweak games myself Plenty of options in game and in the Graphics Card Control Panel to make any game run a little better.
