New Router Problems

ok my old linksys wireless B router takes its annual sh** on me ever once in a while.....

i got sick of it and went to bestbuy today with the sales and got a wireless G router. Model is WRT54GC.

The old one just stopped working one day...but when i hook my model up to my computer, the internet works fine. So i dont know what the problem really is.

Anyways, i got a new one, and im setting up, and it ask for all these like IP adress looking things and options....i dont know what to do....DHCP sounds familiar but didnt work when i selected it....

the other options are....

Static IP

PPTP

PPPoE


i dont know what to do?

how do i know what IP and subnet mask and Gateway and DNS 1 and DNS 2 is and all that?

my dads flippin out cuz theres no internet so any help....THANK YOU

These options depend on what type of internet connection you have and your geogrphical location.

DHCP automatically assigns IP address to any of your computers.

yeah, i found a linksys auto config program and used that.....it didnt work at first then i kept trying and now it works...very strange, but im happy none the less!
