| USB -> Parallel or USB -> Serial?
My brother recently bought a Sony Cybershot 1.3megapx digital camera, with a USB interface. Problem - his computer has no USB slots.
My question is;
- Is it possible to buy converters that will convert USB to Paralell or USB to serial?
My next question is;
- Will it work!?
- Brandon

I have a little doodad that converted USB for an optical mouse to a PS2 connection. So I think that it could be done. Transfer rates would take a hit tho. Look around newegg for something like that. They would have it if anyone would. |

does he have a pci slot open?? if so why not try a PCI USB card?? They work good IMO and would not suffer a performace hit like an LPT to USB adapter would (IF it even exists) plus alot of peripherals now come in USB so it would be a nice addition. Look here for a 5 port 1 internal 4 external USB 2.0/1.1 PCI card.29$$..
you can find tons of places with serial to usb adapters for about teh same price. SO IMO I would go with the card and have more ports.

I also suggest the pci/usb card. I've installed a couple of them, and doing another next week for a digital camera. Newegg has one for $12.

LOL...thanks LiLRiceBoi
Dell as a company is ok but man...I just get so tired of that guy. Everytime he says "Dude, you're getting a DELL!!!", I just want to bash him on the head. Seems to me Dell doesn't know where the breaking point is. |
