CPU Cooling
I'm trying to decide what to do with my cooling situation for my CPU. I have an AMD64 3400+ (Clawhammer) that I'm cooling with a Thermaltake Venus 12 (using arctic silver 5). This thing was supposedly heavy duty and I expected it to cool much better than it does. The fan is loud at max (5500 RPM) and I run it that high when i'm playing games. Even though it's running like that, my CPU temps still go up to 53C under load (I was hoping I could get it lower). When I Oc'ed from 2.2 to 2.4, the temps shot up to 59ish
. Anyone know if thats a good amount of cooling for my proc with this fan?
For christmas I was consider getting this, my friend suggested it to me. Quieter and seems to be more efficient.

Will I get better results with this/worth the upgrade? I am planning on OC'ing my CPU, but with this fan, its starts to heat up way too much.

Not to hip on the AMD's but with my Intel I look for HSF with nice solid, well constructed large bases with plenty of fins and a minimum 80mm FAN. I don't look for these FANCY type HSF's. I'm currently using an Arctic Cooling Super Silent 4 Pro with AS5 and it's keeping my CPU @ 27c. I base my HSF purchases on nice solid PROVEN bases that can disperse the heat much quicker than some of these FANCY styles with annoying 5000 rpm fans.

So, any idea if its worth the upgrade from my Thermaltake to the Zalman? Or, do you have any other fan suggestions? (trying to keep the price around $55ish)

How many fans do you have on your case? Any wires interfering with airflow? Are you overclocking? What's the ambient room temperature? Is your case on the ground or up in the air?

I have two outtake fans, one at the back of the side panel and one at the back of the case. There is also an intake fan at the front and airflow isn't being interferred with. Also, my PSU has a fan on the bottom that moves a good amount of air. At the moment, the room temperature is about 65-70F, but its usually a lot lower at night because we turn the heat down.
At the moment I'm not OC'ed but I'm planning on overclocking a bit, prbly up to 2.4 (and higher if a new fan will let me), and want to keep the temps away from 60C (hit 59-61 with my current fan oc'ing up). Right now my temps are fine, but Oc'ing is really my main concern.AMD Athlon 64 3400 @ 2.2Ghz

Well, that was indeed the point of the original post. A made-up scandal about something that, at the very most, involved a fine detail of Marine protocol, not applicable to any of the other services...
Oh, look! A NEW Obama scandal!!!
