I did a wattage calculator on the net for my system and it come up something like 380 watts. But reading my motherboard manual it states a psu of 350 watts or above should be used. This can't mean it draws 350 watts surely, I thought motherboards draw about 30 watts. I think its just taking into account the whole system but I want to be sure. My system is an AMD 64 4000+, 2gb ddr400 (2x1gb), asus a8n-e, 250gb maxtor sata150, ati x800pro, firewire card (for dvcam), cd drive, dvd burner and seperate cd burner and maybe an audigy2 sometime. I'm going to have all of this running on an antec tp2 480. This should be ok shouldn't it?

With a dvd burner, two hard drives, 2 1gb Kingston performance dimms, a Sony cd writer,
an ATI 9550 256mb video card, an Audigy 4 Pro, and an Antec 430w TPower supply there
hasn't been any issues here. The extra seen with the 480x will cover the slightly higher draw the newer model AMD will place. But if you are still worried, Antec 550w TPower. |

That sounds about right, I think 480 should be plenty, its not as if im going to be running everything all at once anyway. |

what calculator did you use? link?
380w seems to be A LOT from that system... We have a similar system in the house and the calculator we used didn't come nearly close to 380

A 480 watt Antec would be fine.

It comes up as 338 but I added an extra hd and 2 sticks of 1gb ddr (future expansion) |
