| Maxtor OneTouch becomes unresponsive
Hello. I'm hoping someone could help me out with a certain issue I'm having with a Maxtor OneTouch 300GB external Hard Drive. Maybe someone has had the same issue and can help me figure this out or maybe I'm just missing a setting and someone can point me in the right direction...
I have a Maxtor OneTouch 300GB external Hard Drive connected via USB to my Windows XP SP2 Dell computer with all updates kept upto date. The problem I'm having is that once the computer has been on for a while (a few days) the maxtor becomes unresponsive. It's as if it has been disconnected and windows doesn't see it as being connected, but it is. If I restart the computer all works fine, until a few days later when the same thing happens. I'm thinking that it could be a setting somewhere that is telling windows to disconnect the drive or turn it off if it's not active.
I have the Retrospect Backup Software set to do daily backups at 10:00 pm. But for some strange reason neither the computer or backup software recognizes the drive after a few days. This is when i have to restart the computer and everything works ok.
I would like to avoid this situation and keep the drive alive always. can someone please guide me to the light. lol!
Thanks!
Happy Holidays to all those on TECHIMO!!! |
