17inch future power LCD on off

ive had this future power 17 inch lcd for a few years now and it operates fine then one day while using it , it goes off. the synch on green turns amber and it turned back on for a few minutes and then off again. then in the center of the screen blue and red ones showed up then sometimes the would change to zeros. then after awhile it goes off permanently. tested it on 3 different machines so its def the monitor. Wierd thing is , if i leave it plugged out for half an hour and plug it back in it works flawlessly for 10 minutes then starts all over again. Any idea whats wrong guys.

Wear & Tear perhaps?

'Reliability' isnt really the word that springs to mind when discussing LCD's.

How many years have you had the moniter for?

Heat? No warranty, might check on the vent holes. Blow a fan at the back.

Yes, it can overheat or short out due to too much dust. If it doesn't work, then you'll have to get a new one. If you like the screen so much, you can just buy the same model or the latest version of it.

i thought it might have been heat so i put a fan on it , not to mention a fw days ago when it was 25 degrees outside i just open the window and had it sitting thier and the same problem accured. I dont know much about LCD but i am thinking its the controller board. I cant afford to buy another one like it right now and future power is no longer in business. I was trying ot find the oem who supplied the parts so i could buy a new controller board and triy that but no luck. oh well.

Whoa, I wouldn't do it myself, it may just be more effort and money wasted. LCD monitors have gone down and many 17 inchers are pretty affordable now a days. I would just get a new one with no problems, a new warranty and no worries if it blinks out again.

Yep, overheating is definatly a possible consideration to why you are experiencing this. BUT im stil not convinced that over heating can casue just a SUDDEN malfunction after 2 years of use...

I wouldnt really recommend you fixing it, although it is probaly a good idea to get quotes and see the prices of what people are offering...but then again theres always that risk to it breaking down again, and if it does break down again you are probaly going to buy another one than getting it fixed again.

Have a look at some of the moniters out, its worth paying the extra bit to get a brand new one with one years manufacturers warranty than getting your old moniter repaired with the risk of it casuing problems in the future...think about it..

ive seen whats on the market and the only good looking ones ive seen that has resolution and quality like this is a dell. But i hate throwing away things. I know how to fix stuff. but my problem is i dont understand the nature of a LCD ive looked it up on wiki and check how it works.com but none has ever stated what that problem could be. The LCD is fine that i know ,the problem is either the inverter or the controller. So i guess il put it up til i can afford to replace it. Right now i have a 22 inch sony trinitron crt thats taking its place.
