HP Compaq nc6000 battery issue

I have the HP Compaq nc6000 and the battery just stoped working, the laptop only works on the power supply, anyone know if the battery is just dead or if there is another issue here?

in the power meter the battery is showing up not present.

Thanks

Welcome to TechIMO!

Sounds like the battery is dead. Do you by chance have another known good battery that you can test the laptop with? That would help to rule out the laptop.

Unhappy

Not sure if this is the same isue or not with my HP nc6000 laptop.
Recently the battery charge light suddenly stopped coming on, and the battery is no longer charging. Prior to that the battery had been good, easily giving 3 hours use away from the mains supply. So the fault appeared quite suddenly without warning. Is this likely to be a battery fault or has something gone wrong with the laptop "intelligent" charging system?
