hmmm, so you have turned it off now, and it just wont power up?

Don't worry about the CPU fan spinning a little they do that when you plug in an energised or plugged in PSU. ATX motherboards always have current going into them and for an electrical reason not worth going into it will maybe rotate 90,180 degrees on plugging in the PSU.

Anyway, back to the point, what is happening now, the PC won't power on?

Have you tried pulling every device plugged into the PSU except the motherboard and powering up?

Give us a little more insight into the current situation, rather than what happened.

Hello.

Each computer is different in their designs and 'lights'. It is near impossible for us to tell whether your PC is still on or in standby by only knowing that there is a green light. Some computers change lights in standby and some don't. However, in this case, whether it is still on or in standby doesn't really matter. If it is still on, switch off the power supply and reboot the computer or just press the reboot button. If it is in standby, do it anyway. I think your PC hanged on some program when in standby mode.

I don't think your motherboard has blown, unless your PC was unlucky enough to be struck by a virus attack or a heat wave while in standby. A friend of mine whose PC was struck by a virus attack that blew his motherboard said there was a smell of something melting.

pc wont start

the power button on the fron of the pc should turn the pc off when you hold it in for 8 seconds but mine does not this means that it is already off i think, so lets say thats its off i cant start the thing the fan works, the switch works, i have checked power cables to the power supply, i have tryed all the things that people suggest but still nothing. what do you need to no about my machine to find out whats rong and i will tell you
thanks
