    Compute has become slower

    Hey everyone

Recently ive noticed that my PC has generally become a whole lot slower. I notice it easily when I am burning a DVD disc it takes twice as much time to do it even at the same speed, also when copying files from one folder 2 another takes twice the time and even on the screen saver its become more choppy. Ive done virus, spyware and all other cheks and I have 1GB of RAM so thats not a problem. I cant think what else it could be, ive done the usual scandisk and defragmenter checks.... does anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks

It's likeley caused by many programs starting up with windows and running in the background (e.g. heavy andti-virus and firewall, quicktime updater, this toolbar, that updater...)

    Spyware scan with Ad-Aware
    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Scan for issues with Crap cleaner. www.ccleaner.com as well as cleaning out old internet files etc.

    Hijack this will also help

Post your logfile here and it'll tell you what's good and what's not

Ive used the CCleaner and MSConfig item, i dont have much items in my startup, just essentials and a DigiTV application. Right now even with a winamp and 5 internet explorer browsers open i still have 570MB RAM available. Its not spyware either as I use 3 different spyware checks regularly.

PS. Come to think of it 570MB RAM available is less then what it used to be when even with the same number of applications running id have over 700MB or so. This is a minor problem but could it have something to do with my PC problem??

    Have you tested your RAM

    http://www.memtest86.com/

Make a disquette and boot with it, if your RAM is going bad you'll know it.

Some applications and spyware can also slowdown your computer. As mention by 27 make a log with HijackThis and post it here so that we can see if there's anything that you need to take care of
