    Embed Text in an image

Anybody know how to embed text, say a secret message into an image? it's actually pretty easy, me and my friend use it all the time to pass messages, pieces of code, etc.

Are you asking us or telling us? If you already know how, this thread would be better served as an instructional one rather than a "can you do ____?" like my friend and I can?

    What's the point?

Steganography - Hiding text within a grahic, is nothing new and gained public attention in 1995. So why the excitement? Just curious.

Yeah if you look at Martock's aviator it says "Jason Lives"... Stenography at its best!

Stenography is different from steganography and Martock's avatar is neither

well im just asking if anyone else knows how, lol. not tryin to be an "Ii can to do this and you can't" kind of guy, they piss me off.

I was also unsure of the correct name of it. But it is not like the avatar. Thats just a GIF, simple. Not to say that embeding text into an image is hard, if you open an image and find a spot where it is white, then make it total white with paint brush or whataver, and then that part now contains no data and you can put so much text into that area. You open that altered file in notepad and type wutever you want at the very end of all the code. Then save and the filesize should be the same as the original, my buddy even made a batch file to do it where u type wut u want and it embeds for you. And a decoder as well. Anyways, that is all, lol.

    Who is Martock???

Anyway...yeah, my text is just added to the image, not embedded within. I've never tried steganography and to be honest, I can't recall ever seeing anyone else do it either.

With some work I did years ago, STEGANOGRAHY use was mandated before transporting certain files. There isn't a as big a demand for it anymore, but still comes in handy on occaision.

True steganography is embedded in the bits of a picture by converting un-necessary bits. Without the key it can't be re-assembled. Not a simple case of typing white-on-white.

    Apologies to MARTOCH!

    Have fun with it!
