What is Benchmarking??? - Tech Support Forums

Hello,

I would like to know what benchmarking is. I have heard so many people use it but I can't figure out what it is. English is my second language. And also what programs such as 3D Mark for, are they like prime95? Anyway it would be nice if someone could help me cause I have been wondering for a very long time.

benchmarking is testing your computer out with certain programs..

3dmark is a benchmarking program, it is very graphically intense and tests ur system out.
u then get a score and u can compare it with other people.

Benchmarking is also stress testing hardwares installed on the system. Some utilities can
also be used to indicate if there are defective hardwares. Prime95 is one type commonly in
use as well as Memtest-86 V.3.2 free to download at: http://www.memtest86.com This is a
high rated utility for stress testing the installed memory on a system. For a newer 64bit cpu
you would go to: http://www.memtest.org for the free V.165 version there.
