| What's the best AGP vic card i can get that wont be bottlenecked by my proc?
Hey guys,
I figured that I'm going to be sticking with AGP, because I only need to upgrade a few things instead of buying a whole new computer.
What I want to know is that my processor is a P4 2.8ghz (533fsb) and I want to know what the best AGp vid card i can get that wont be bottlenecked by this?
I'm going to be doing a few upgrades b4 the vid card like ram (up to 1.5 gigs) and PSU (a good one) so im just wondering... |

Well it honestly comes down to how much you want to spend. Any new agp videocard will boost it, even though there will be a decent sized bottleneck, it won't totally kill the performance of a better card vs a slightly slower one.
For example, you will still feel a difference between a 7800GS and an X800XT even though they are both very high end agp cards for your cpu.
I am running a 2.8E p4 myself (800fsb though so that makes a large diff) and play games great with the X800XT in my rig.

personally, I would get yourself a good midrange card like a 6600gt or x800gto (x800gto is a good deal better though in same price range). Then save up for a new computer. |

well becuz i have like 5 years until i got off to university, and so it's either i build a new computer, or a i upgrade what i have, now when i say upgrade, i have to do like the PSU, ram, gfx card, a bigger hardrive, and a new case. becuz i may buy a laptop, for uni, or keep my desktop for the beginning of uni, and buy a laptop like halfway through
so im prolly guna build a new one, and buy the parts over time, becuz i only have about $1000 CAD, so i'd buy a few thing,s then when i get my job in march/april buy the rest
