| ANTIVIRUS!!! i hate symantec and norton but need it
I hate symantec and norton because when then run in the background they use up too much system resources so i dont feel like paying the subscription price to have my comp run slower. Thats why i use the web based trendmicro.
HOWEVER, the software anti virus had one great feature! i could right click and scan for viruses any file.
I recently downloaded a large file of a P2P network and before i open it I want to scan it for viruses. If there any application that just lets you scan a single file and not a full fledged antivirus software package? |

I would suggest either Grisoft's AVG or Avast!
1 - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
2 - http://www.avast.com
Both are free and work quite well. Avast is a little more feature rich than AVG but I think AVG is quicker/less resource intensive. Both have worked great for me.

Well you could get avast! or AVG, they both have their free versions that you should be able to disable their real time scanning and all their other features and just use it for a scanner for scanning your computer or single files when needed. Thats what I have done with avast and nod32.

| Try Panda Platinum 2005 Internet Security, thats the one i use and run softly on PC. With it you can check single files using the mouse right click.

I suggest Avast...the real time scanning is sweet...with it running, it will tell you if you open a file/web page with a virus in it, and block it automatically...and yes, you can right click on something and have it scan that one file. |
