Let me get this straight
4GB of RAM... but not even going for GTX vid card?
lay off the RAM to 2GB.. upgrade the vid card or something.
you can upgrade later if its required... right now its not |

Hi and Welcome To TechIMO!
First off, like posted, drop it to, two 1gb sticks of low latency memory.
Then go with a dual core Athlon X2 4400+
Then go with atleast a 7800GTX, or preferably an X1800XT

Any links to the reviews?
Athlon X2's are dual core A64's that's all. They can't really be any worse....
The Athlon X2 4800+ (overpriced ATM) runs at the same speed as the A64 4000+ but is practically two 4000+'s. Dual core is the way of the future, and games in production will use it's potential. |

You could probably save yourself $75 on RAM by going with a non-name brand which will perform just as well. |

Advanced Micro Devices will release a dual-core version of its most powerful and expensive PC processor for high-end gamers after using a single-core design in that segment for several months.

I guess it can go either way, but the dual core gaming chip is the FX-60. So I would stick with what he has instead of going with the x2.
