When I first looked at task manager, I noticed there 60+ processes running Couldn't believe how much junk programs came pre installed. I took out the obvious ones like aol and realplayer but can anyone help me pick out what else I should get rid of? On my old comp, I only had about 30 processes running at the most...
oh yeah, I have a 90 day trial subscription on mcafee, should I use it till then or delete now? Never really liked Mcafee.
dump that mcafee crap and get avg free (grisoft.com) and zonealarm (zonelabs.com) Both are free...
You can unistall all that dell crap...
More than uninstall you can just disable it from starting up when you log on.
start>run>msconfig
Go to the startup tab and uncheck anything you dont need. Use your best judgement though as sometimes there are things you need for your computer to run properly. I have heard that dell puts spyware in their systems that phones home. Dont quote me but I think that this may very well be true as I have installed zonealarm on dells and it warns you whenever a new program is trying to access the internet and ive seen some programs that should not have been on a new computer. Just something to look into.

thanks, i did that and trimmed a lot of useless crap out. But now everytime i start up, this sonic software asks for activation, but since I likely removed already, it wants me to get a recov cd etc, and when I cancel it, it just keeps on looping back to it. I looked around msconfig, and add/remove programs, didn't find any trace of sonic related stuff there...
