Which processor is faster (Intel 3.0 Pentium D dual core or 3.4 Pentium 4 HT?)

Hi all,

Which processor is the fastest from these two:

3.0 Pentium D Dual core
or 3.4 Pentium 4 HT Processor?

Any explanation as to why one is faster or any links would be appreciated. Is there a big difference in performance? How much faster is one versus the other?

Is there a big difference between these and a 2.8 Pentium D Dual core processor?

Can the average user tell the difference if they are not using it for games but are using multiple programs simultaneously?

(Does anybody have a link to this info?)

Pentium D is a Dual Core.


Pentium D was one of the First Intel Dual cores.

Core Duo was next in line, but was mainly a Mobile Platform Dual Core.

then Came Core 2 Duo, and its Subsequent offspring Which includes Pentium Dual Core (Not the same as Pentium D), and Celeron Dual Core.

We also have the more Current Core i3 and i5 Dual Cores as well, the Pentium G6950 Which is basically a slower clocked Core i3 with out Hyper Threading.

So when your asking Dual core... Which one are you asking about?


There's also all of AMD's Dual Core CPU's as well.
