hey all
i just took a look at the apple site, to see the PC competition, and it seems theyve come up with bootcamp, and you can put XP on it!. that seems quite cool to me, and i was wondering, should i go for this sort of thing over a PC? and also i was wondering what you all thought of it.
does these comps have high power graphics, and can handle games?
what do you all think now, htat mac can have XP on it? |

I would get the MacBook Pro in an instant if I was in the market for a laptop in that price range.
The only problem with getting a Mac for a desktop system is, if you want an Intel processor and Bootcamp, you'll have to either get the Mini (hardly any upgrade/replacement ability) or the Imac(same, but even worse because of the fact that it has an integrated monitor).
When they release the Intel Powermac, I will definitely be lusting over that thing (or the reduced-price PowerPC model.. hehe). Would probably not even use Bootcamp, a second 'real' PC system running XP would be better. |

yeah
sorry about that, maybe a mod will move it when they see it or have a chance
but i was wondering, now that apple offers windows support, is it worth it over a ibuypower or dell pc now?
can you upgrade teh RAM and graphics cards in a mac like you can so easily witha PC? cause im an avid gamer and like to keep up to date on everything
would you recommend the mac or a pc? |

| mbandela000 This would not be an exercise to save money. It would be to have a cool looking unit. Money aside, there is no assurance at how well the machine would work. But I know the intention of Apple is just to do what it takes to sell the hardware.

yeah
GroundZero3: lookin to do some video editing, web browsing, and occassional high-end gaming
but if its not upgradeable,in terms of graphics, or optical drive(dvd burner, cd reader, etc)
wouldnt it lose buyers from apple? cause every time it gets outdate-new comp. that would bust the consumers bank easily |

| It depends on the market. Think about the upgradability of a laptop, and yet people buy them in droves. Unfortunately Apple hasn't updated their Powermacs yet, which is their upgradable system for those of us who desire that. The mac mini and imac are meant to compete with similar systems from other companies (for example, gateway at least used to have a setup identical to the imacs), and those types of systems are going for smaller size and lower noise at the expense of upgradability. |

If you're smart enough to buy a mac, why would you mess it up by putting XP on it? If you want XP stick with PC. |
