| Trend Micro or AVG
Currently run TM, but their customer service downright sucks. Called their support yesterday which took about 1 hour to get a human. This human said he was going to send me a link to trouble shoot why something is continually trying to load or run in my task bar. Task manager doesn't show it.
If you all say Trend is better than AVG then it stays. Otherwise I'm doing an unistall and throwing $55 out the window and installing free AVG.
Thanks |

The System Slowdown ain't worth it. Don't use Anti-Virus. Unneeded. |

Nice to see that "noobs" still like to make noise..
I used to use NAV, but have since switched to AVG and have had no infections or slowdowns.
What happens when "whatever" tries to load?

Why isn't Avast an option? It's the best free antivirus IMHO.

To answer the opinionated question, I use AVG because its nice, doesn't use up too much system resources and I don't have to watch it. I had norton coprorate and in task manager it showed that on it used 32000K, but AVG for me it now shows 8000K. |

I get this brief 2 second flash and a blank tab with a little white box in the left side of it flashes in my task bar next to my shortcut icons.
This occurs every 10-15 minutes and if your typing anywhere even Word or online your typing is interupted. Quote: |

Never heard of Avast. I just would like to run a simple effective program that won't hog my system or play games with me like Trend does.
Thanks |

I will add my 2 cents worth. For several years, I swore by AVG. For awhile this last winter, AVG was putting a virus into my virus vault a couple of times a week. Then nothing, but all of a sudden, I found 3 virus in my computer. And 2 of my friends did also. All of us kept AVG updated. So, I changed to Avast and I too, like it better than AVG and haven't had a problem since.
YMMV
Good Luck

That flash could be linked with Spy/malware. Have you tried Adaware or Spybot. You could even try "Hijack this" and see if anything is attached somewhere.
Big
if I offended you, then hey - sorry, But there is so much malicious code out there and not necessarily linked to email that you may have been zombified without knowing it before you installed any AV. And I so agree on Norton - resource hog.
Never tried Avast, but it always gets great marks.
