If you sniff around Staples, you can pick up a Samsung B&W Laser printer for $50 and get a separate Canon scanner.

for laser Brother is awsome.
They cost near 200
Try costco's because they ship free and there really cheap. cheaper than newegg.
Plus free ship
did I mention free shipping ? 
IMO HP inks are easier to find and somewhat cheaper than most.
