Comcast Advertises 6MBdwn/384kbps up
What I get is about 7144 dwn/ 362kbps up...
Man I hope they up their upload speed soon, I can't take it this slow. I also hate comcast. Id prefer dsl since it was way faster at 3mb dwn. Also had waaay faster upload speed.

Oh I guess its safe to say I have never downloaded anything over 800kbps. Still quick, but not as fast as my 3mb dsl. Then again it was ... DEDICATED! (for those of you that missed that refernce, the D is dsl stands for dedicated. Thank you for tuning in.)

I thought the D stood for Digital. Oh well.

I have Charter 3.0Mbps cable. I live in new, higher income apartments and there are wireless networks everywhere. Almost everyone here has cable or DSL. My cable averages around 300KB/s. I have seen it around 900KB/s at some times; and the other day I was really surprised! I was downloading at 4500KB/s. I downloaded a 24MB file in about 5-7 seconds! (My source was Microsoft, though)

Below are my Speed Test results (testmy.net). I used the Optimize program...
____---before---____
:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 3057 Kbps about 3.06 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 373 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ (Server 1)Test Time:: 2006/06/06 - 9:58pm
Bottom Line:: 53X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 2.75 sec
Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 8.016 seconds to complete
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4
Diagnosis: Looks Great : 3.45 % faster than the average for host (charter.com)

:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Download Connection is:: 3028 Kbps about 3.03 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::
Upload Connection is:: 248 Kbps about 0.25 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 30 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ (Server 2)Test Time:: 2006/06/07 - 12:19am
Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 34.13 sec
Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 98.80512 seconds to complete
Upload Diagnosis:: 90% + Okay : running at 91.18 % of your hosts average (charter.com)

User Agent::Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 ][

My upload seems pretty consistent and is very slow...
I run a few servers and with an upload rate of 30KB/s, I can see why they seem kind of sluggish (with decent hardware).

Is there any way to get more upload speed?

Yes , it makes a file in the same folder as the program is in. It has restore windows defaults or backup copy.

If you do not want to get into the low-level settings, click optimal settings, move the slider to your specified connection rate, then apply the automatically calculated changes. Reboot, and hopefully you will have a much faster connection.

Wow! Thanks for that! I went from 1200 Kbps Down and 375 Kbps up to 2573/468...on a 1.5Mbps subscription! Nice to be actually getting more than what I am paying for!

It means Digital Subscriber Line. But I am pretty sure BigCarp was just joking around there.
