    modify or buy new?

Hey guys I own a Dell Dimension 8200, its about 4 years old I have been having allot of problem with it latley freezing up, running slow and I can't play the new games on it. Seems to get better after I reformat it but it's just a matter of time before it does it all over again. So my question is should I try and upgrade the parts or would I be better off buying a new one? If so what brand does every one recommend? I'm still in the process of learning about computers and don't know if it would be a wise desicion to build my own? what are some suggestions?

    Thanks

What are you using this pc for? Simple web browsing and the like or high resolution gaming?

If you want new parts, just buy a new pc. And depending on what you want this for, I can give you a few ideas about it.

i have an 8200 for my second pc....the only upgrades i've done to it is upgrade the video card to an ATI X800 Pro and added 512 gig. of ram....the thing with these machines is that they use RD Rambus Ram....if you've ever checked the price on the ram you'll find it's very expensive...if it was me and you've got the extra funds....build one...thats what i did...although mine still runs well and does o.k. playing C.O.D. 2 and the VietCong games
I'm gonna get the Duke and John Cassavetes and Lee Marvin and Sam Pekinpah And a case of Whiskey and drive down to...

Have you thought about getting a laptop? You could get an extremely nice one for about $1500 that would play all of the newest games on easily.

If you don't want to spend that much you could get a very nice desktop, but you might want to think about it.
