just built a pc...

I am currently building a computer off of newegg. will be a first.

Case
Mobo
vid cards (x2 - SLI)
RAM (x2 - 2gigs)
Processor
PSU

This will be my FIRST PC out of scratch. It would be greatly appreceiated if someone could run through those items to see if everything fits in properly, and of course suggestions are always excepted.

i really appreciate the help in advance.

For one, I'd go AM2. Its the next generation of AMD's CPU's.
That requires DDR2.
Also, instead of SLI, you should get this card-

And, that requires less power. So, you could get this Power Supply-

You'd need an AM2 mobo.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813135010
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131014

Going dual core would be worth the money- the x2 3800+
otherwise spend 40$ more dollars over the 3200+ and get the 3800+

Heres some ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590
heres some cheaper ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231071

get the cheaper ram if your not overclocking.

yeah i had the x2 3800 on my shopping cart, but i looked at it, and said i can upgrade anytime. keep in mind it is 300 bux. my budget right now is about 800-900. and ide like to stick with SLI, unless this AM2 is a lot better than.

AM2 is better, and is the future for AMD.
So, if you want upgradability, go AM2.
Also, I meant just getting one of the 7900 GT's, because SLI is not worth it, IMO.

I agree with Reather. You will be able to play all games smooth with one 7900gt. Graphics cards are getting better and better all the time. You are better off buying a Very Good single card instead of two Mediocre cards. You would also need a SLI capable Motherboard for two cards, and a more powerful PSU.
Also, in the next 6 months or so, DX10 cards will be out. Thats when you will want to upgrade.

The processor is your choice. Either will suffice for gaming and usual tasks. You may be correct in upgrading later: Due to Intels new chips, there may be a decrease in the price of AMD processors in the next month or 2.

If your just going to upgrade later get a vanilla AMD A64 3000+ because its not worth the extra bucks probably(unless the price dif is next to nothing). However, if you can put off buying your system for a month or two then do so and get an core duo instead, they are cheaper and beat AMD's CPU's bang/buck. However as carl said there may be price reductions from AMD to counter intel, so who knows what will happen in that case, AMD may be able to level the price-performance ratio at the mid/lower end to beat intel there....

For a GPU i would get a 7900GT, sell it at a later date for a beasty DX10 card(and they are looking to be amazing i think). If thats too much a 7600GT(and make sure its GT, beats the GS) would do fine until DX10...

So without SLI if you still want S939 then get a different mobo, maybe an MSI or biostar, dunno but you can save $30-40 that way.

And get the PSU Reather suggested without your SLI. Sorted
