    Cheap PC

I'm planning on building a cheap PC for someone. I believe he doesn't want to spend to spend a ton, and he doesn't do much graphic wise. So, integrated graphics are acceptable.
Here is what I have so far-
    CPU-AMD Sempron 1800+ $65
    Motherboard-Biostar T-Force 6100 m-ATX $74 (AM2)
    RAM-OCZ Value RAM 1GB $78 or Transcend 1 GB DDR2
    Case-Gigabyte Triton series $75
Power Supply-Sparkle 350 watt OEM $32 (Similiar to the FSP Group 400 watt, only no PCI-E connector)
    Hard Drive-Seagate 7200.9 80 GB $48
    Shipping- A high $75
    Windows XP-$88
    Total-$435
So, if anyone has a suggestion for a case, or a different power supply, and especially memory, would be appreciated.
He will not be overclocking, and doesn't need a fancy case. I would like to keep the price below $550.

    I'd prefer Newegg.
Any suggestions on the case or memory?

Reather I talked to him and he wants it to be around (under would be better) $400. He only needs it to take classes online with it, nothing big, and he already has windows XP

Edit: And, he doesn't need a very expensive case either.

Another edit: and since he isn't running anything too big (like games) I think a good 512 MB of RAM should do fine

Why not just get a Dell, comes with LCD, keyboard, mouse and speakers too.
    http://www.dell.com/content/products...=19&l=en&s=dhs 449$

    Otherwise, get cheapest Ram.

    Spend less on case IMO.

Might be able to use stock P.O.S. psu that comes with it. Save some money and get better CPU

I tried talking him into a cheap Manufactured PC like a Dell, but he'd rather have Reather build him one. (I opted for the job, but I decided to yeild to a more knowledgeable person than me)

Edit: and I already told him about the price cuts comming up in a few weeks, and if he could buy at that time, it would be much apreciated Reather

I think I'll wait for that time.
I saw his Windows, and I don't believe it'll work, because it mentioned you need a previous license to run it.
As for a case, what one of these-

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133174
I'll stick with the Sparkle, for now.
    512 it is, then.

Hmm. I didn't see his windows.
I'd go with the Thermaltake case. And above, I hope you meant sempron 2800+, not 1800+.

    Good RAM too.

And wouldn't it be cheaper to use a socket 754 motherboard without DDR2? (I cant get newegg up right now or I would have checked)

Well, see if you can get him over here to talk about it...why get something when it costs more and has less features?

    512MB of ram
    160GB hdd
    DVD Burner
15" LCD or 17" LCD for $40 more

That would save $5, at most. AM2 has an upgrade path, if he needs one.

That doesn't look bad. Do you know if it will take an ATX Power Supply?

Yes, it should(I have the same case, and a TT 420 worked great in it, though it might need a 24 pin psu with the mobo). Though the one that comes with it should be more than enough.

I always though Dell uses good power supplies. They seem too small going by the input watts, but always work like a bigger PS.

Ya, the 250w that came with mine was very well made. It lasted 6 months(it never burned out, but it was weakened from the constant abuse to a point where it could not be used) running a 6800 GT while I was gaming for a few hours each day.

looking at the price you can put together, you can do better by ordering a Dell.. IMHO

..although i really love to build them, i think this would be a better system to buy prebuilt
    Mobile: Thinkpad T61 | WinXP Pro | C2D T8300 CPU | 3GB DDR2 | 320GB Hybrid SSD HDD | AGN & WWAN
    Desktop: Dell XPS 8300 | 3.4 Ghz Intel i7 | 8GB DDR3 | 1TB OS, 1.5TB Mirrored DATA

I would think there are not many 250w PSs that could run a 6800gt, so Dell must build good PSs.
